Max Eberl Explains What Makes Bayern’s Season Special

Bayern Munich’s Sporting Director Max Eberl has expressed great satisfaction with the German record champions’ development this season.

«From my perspective, we are having a very, very good season so far,» Eberl stated to Sky ahead of the Bundesliga away match against VfL Wolfsburg. «I don’t need to talk about all the records right now,» he added. Among other achievements, Bayern has already set a record for the most Bundesliga goals in a single season, standing at 116 before their duel with Wolfsburg.

«The way we play football, we are German champions, reached the Champions League semi-finals, and played on equal footing against the best team in Europe. And for the first time in a long time, we are in the cup final, which we want to win,» Eberl listed.

Last week, FCB’s Champions League journey concluded against Paris Saint-Germain. After a spectacular 4-5 first-leg loss, the French team advanced to the final, held in Budapest, with an early goal from Ousmane Dembele securing a 1-1 draw in the second leg at the Allianz Arena.

In two weeks, the Munich team will compete in the cup final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin against VfB Stuttgart. With a victory there, Bayern could celebrate winning the Double.

Max Eberl: ‘People Rave About How Much Fun It Is’

Beyond the sporting successes Bayern can boast this season, Eberl is particularly pleased with another aspect: «What is also a soft factor is how many people rave about how much fun it is to watch Bayern games. They were never Bayern fans, but they enjoy watching us because it’s the kind of football one wishes for,» he said on Saturday.

«You don’t get a trophy for that, but it counts too,» he added.
