VfB Stuttgart Talent Noah Darvich Set for Surprise Loan Move Amidst Top Club Interest

VfB Stuttgart’s promising midfielder Noah Darvich is reportedly on the verge of a temporary departure from the club, with a loan move within the Bundesliga looking increasingly likely.

According to reports from kicker, a loan deal for Darvich to newly promoted side SV Elversberg is taking shape. This would mean that more established clubs who expressed interest will be left disappointed.

Among those reportedly vying for the 19-year-old’s signature were Werder Bremen, Darvich’s former youth club SC Freiburg, VfL Wolfsburg, and Hertha BSC. Darvich has yet to make a senior appearance for VfB Stuttgart’s first team.

Elversberg’s appeal to Darvich, compared to relegated clubs like Wolfsburg and Hertha, is naturally their continued Bundesliga status. Compared to Werder and Freiburg, the club environment in Saarland is perceived as less pressured. kicker suggests that at SVE, who achieved a sensational promotion to the top German division a year after narrowly missing out in 2025, Darvich can develop «in a calm environment.»

Noah Darvich at VfB Stuttgart: Strong Development, Yet to Debut in the Bundesliga

Darvich caught the attention of several top-flight and second-division clubs last season with his consistently strong performances for VfB’s second team in the 3. Liga. The 2023 World and European champion with the German U17 team registered ten goals and six assists. He is versatile in attacking midfield, capable of playing centrally as a number ten or on the wings. Darvich can also operate as an ‘eight’.

Despite his encouraging development and praise from first-team coach Sebastian Hoeneß, an opportunity in Stuttgart’s senior squad has not yet materialized. He was named in the VfB Bundesliga squad only once, on matchday 2 at the end of August 2025.

«Noah would be ready, he has shown really good development recently,» Hoeneß attested to the midfield gem in late February, speaking to Bild. He added that after signing Darvich last summer, the initial goal was for him to «make a difference» in the third-division team, which he is now beginning to do, demonstrating his readiness. «I am very satisfied with his development. He brings a lot that qualifies him for higher tasks. He must continue on exactly this path,» Hoeneß stated.

VfB Stuttgart likely has long-term plans for Darvich, whose contract runs until 2029. In the anticipated loan move to Elversberg, the German junior international is undoubtedly aware that the Saarland club has earned a reputation in recent years as an excellent stepping stone for young talents who haven’t yet broken through at bigger clubs.

Fisnik Asllani, Paul Wanner, and Nick Woltemade are prominent examples of players who have benefited from this. David Mokwa could be the next. The 22-year-old striker joined Elversberg in winter as a replacement for Younes Ebnoutalib, whom SVE had signed from the Regionalliga and sold to Eintracht Frankfurt a year later. Mokwa had been unable to secure a place in the Bundesliga team at TSG Hoffenheim but took the next step at Elversberg. He scored six goals in the second half of the season, including a brace in the 3-0 victory against Preußen Münster on the final matchday, which sealed their promotion to the top flight.

Noah Darvich Previously Spent Two Years at FC Barcelona

Darvich, who captained Germany in their U17 World Cup and European Championship victories, has already had a unique experience in his young career. In the summer of 2023, at the age of 16, he decided to leave SC Freiburg for FC Barcelona.

At Barca, he hoped to make the leap to the top level via the second team at an international powerhouse club. However, after two years, he returned to Germany.

«Barcelona was a big adventure. It was like in a movie. I got to play and train with childhood idols,» Darvich said at the time of his move to VfB. He frequently trained with the first team alongside superstars like Pedri and Raphinha, and made occasional appearances in friendly matches. However, for the entirety of his two seasons at Barca, his reality remained with the B-team in the third Spanish division, where he was ultimately not a regular starter.

Last summer, Stuttgart then transferred one million euros to Barcelona for Darvich. «Not least due to his young age, we still see significant development potential, so we are convinced of a very positive path for Noah in the VfB jersey,» emphasized Sporting Director Fabian Wohlgemuth at the time. It’s possible that after a loan spell at Elversberg, Darvich will truly break through at VfB in the 2027/28 season.
