Lionel Messi continues to be by far the highest-paid footballer in Major League Soccer (MLS), clearly overshadowing Thomas Müller.
The Argentinian World Cup winner receives a base salary of $25 million at Inter Miami, more than double that of the second-highest earner in this ranking. This is Heung-Min Son (Los Angeles FC), who earns $10.36 million. The corresponding salary report was released by the MLS Players Association on Tuesday.
Former World Cup winner Müller, at the Vancouver Whitecaps, receives a base salary of five million dollars, placing him ninth in this ranking.
Timo Werner earns $3.73 million at the San Jose Earthquakes, while Marco Reus makes just over $600,000 at Los Angeles Galaxy. German striker Hany Mukhtar is compensated with four million dollars at Nashville SC.
MLS: Messi’s Salary Five Times Higher Than Müller’s
The players’ association not only published the base salary but also listed the guaranteed income from contracts. This includes additional payments such as a signing bonus.
This brings Messi’s annual earnings to $28.33 million, and Müller’s to $5.152 million.
