Italian Sports Medicine Congress Addresses Biological Age and Healthspan

The 38th National Congress of the Italian Sports Medical Federation (FMSI) will be held from March 26 to 28 at the Rome Cavalieri Congress Center, centered on the theme "Biological Age, Chronological Age." This significant event will underscore the crucial contribution of Sports Medicine to promoting a healthy life, often referred to as Healthspan.

The FMSI is committed to leveraging the specialized knowledge and insights acquired through its work with Olympic athletes to benefit the broader population. The goal is to reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases and foster healthy longevity across all age groups. This integrated and cost-effective approach to chronic disease prevention and prediction merges the proven expertise of Sports Medicine with the latest advancements in epigenetic studies.

The congress will be officially opened on Thursday, March 26, at 4 PM by Maurizio Casasco, President of both the Italian and European Sports Medical Federations. The extensive three-day scientific program features a diverse range of topics, including:

• "Human aging and motor activities"
• "Update on neuroscience, physical exercise and sport"
• "Women and movement"
• "Nutrition and sport"
• "Milan-Cortina Olympics: research, innovation and performance"
• "Prescription of physical exercise in cardiology," a particularly central theme, utilizing guidelines developed by FMSI in collaboration with leading cardiological scientific societies.

The event is expected to host over 80 speakers, including prominent figures from the scientific, academic, political, and sporting worlds, addressing an audience of more than 3,200 registered medical professionals. Additionally, the program includes dedicated sessions for readings, in-depth analyses, and hot topics, such as a symposium on vaccine prevention.
