FC Barcelona may be considering a sensational summer transfer for winger Bradley Barcola, according to Spanish newspaper Sport. Barcola’s agent is reportedly reaching out to major European clubs, including Barcelona, to remind them of the 23-year-old’s availability.
Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, is said to already have the Frenchman on his list of potential offensive reinforcements. This interest aligns with reports from December suggesting Barcola was hesitant about an early contract extension in Paris.
The Catalan giants are in need of offensive additions, particularly given the uncertain future of Marcus Rashford. The English forward is currently on loan at Barcelona from Manchester United until the end of the season, with the Spanish champions having a €30 million option to make the transfer permanent. However, conflicting reports have emerged regarding Barcelona’s willingness to trigger this clause, with the fee potentially being too high for the club. Manchester United, on the other hand, is reportedly unwilling to extend his loan.

Given the significant price difference compared to Rashford, a concrete move for Barcola by Barcelona seems less likely. Paris Saint-Germain, where the French international is under contract until 2028, is reportedly demanding a minimum of €80 million for Barcola. It remains highly questionable whether a financially strained Barcelona could afford such a costly acquisition.
In addition to Barcelona, Sport also names Liverpool as a potential suitor for Barcola. The Reds are reportedly considering the PSG star as an alternative if they fail to secure their top target, Youssouf Diomande from RB Leipzig. Liverpool is said to have already held very concrete discussions with the Ivorian, for whom a transfer fee exceeding €100 million would likely be required. Barcola’s potential departure from PSG could be accelerated by the fact that PSG has also reportedly contacted Diomande, although Liverpool appears to have a stronger position in securing the Bundesliga star.
Barcola, who joined Paris in 2023 from Olympique Lyon for €45 million, is a regular starter in the star-studded offense of the reigning Champions League winners. This season, he has contributed twelve goals and seven assists in 40 appearances.
Barcola has the opportunity to win the Champions League for the second consecutive year with PSG. The French champions will face Bayern Munich in the semi-finals, with the first leg scheduled for next Tuesday.
