Despite his usual reluctance to discuss his future, Yan Diomande has intensified rumors about a potential transfer to PSG.
«My future? My team takes care of that. I try to stay as focused as possible,» stated the RB Leipzig winger during a press conference ahead of the friendly match between Ivory Coast and France. However, he then made a noteworthy statement: «I have been a PSG fan since childhood. I believe my father was also a PSG fan. But I’m not thinking about the future; I’m completely focused on the World Cup. Let’s see what happens afterwards.»
Given these sentiments, he expressed his delight that Paris won the Champions League against FC Arsenal just a week prior.
According to Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain has a concrete interest in signing the Bundesliga breakout star, who made a significant impact in his debut season for the Saxon club with 23 goal contributions in 36 appearances. Bayern Munich was also reportedly interested at one point. However, Leipzig’s rumored release clause of 100 million euros exceeds the financial capabilities of the German record champions.
This is in contrast to FC Liverpool. The Reds have been more concretely linked with a Diomande transfer in recent months. In January, he – similar to his recent press conference statements – fueled speculation himself. «I want to play at Liverpool. I am a big fan of Liverpool. My father dreams of seeing me play at Anfield one day. That is also my dream, and I want to make it come true,» he said in a TikTok video. These statements contradict what he said on Thursday.

In any case, Diomande does not seem to have a clear plan for his future. In mid-May, he responded with a clear «Yes» to the question of whether he would still play for Leipzig next season in an interview with kicker. He stated that he was not currently concerned with the interest from other clubs: «I am in Leipzig and I enjoy playing here.»
In Paris, Diomande could potentially succeed Bradley Barcola, who is reportedly looking to leave and had a reserve role in important games for the repeated Champions League winners last season. Meanwhile, Liverpool is seeking a successor for Mohamed Salah, who will be leaving the club prematurely. In mid-April, Sky Sport had already reported on concrete discussions with Diomande’s agent.
The 19-year-old joined CD Leganes from an academy in the USA at the beginning of 2025 and, after only ten appearances for the then-Spanish first-division club, which was relegated from LaLiga at the end of the season, moved to Leipzig for 20 million euros. His market value could further increase at the World Cup, especially if Ivory Coast faces Germany in the group stage.
