Victor Wembanyama’s Challenge to the Knicks Ahead of NBA Finals Game 5: «Everyone Knows We Will Make It»

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs have put behind them their historic collapse in Game 4 of the NBA Finals and are looking to strike back.

«There were a thousand opportunities to not lose this game,» said the top star of the Spurs, who are trailing the New York Knicks 1-3 in the best-of-seven series.

The Spurs had a 29-point lead in Game 4 but faltered, losing 106-107. Such a significant lead has never been relinquished by a team in an NBA Finals game in the league’s long history.

«There was a time to process it and really deal with it – but that time is over. We’ve put it behind us,» Wembanyama stated. «It’s the playoffs. There’s no time to dwell on things for too long.»

LeBron James and the Cavaliers as an Example for San Antonio?

Game 5 is scheduled for Sunday morning (2:30 AM CEST / Prime Video), a game San Antonio must win to prevent the Knicks from clinching the title.

He sees LeBron James as an inspiration, who, with the Cleveland Cavaliers, also trailed 1-3 in the 2016 Finals – yet still went on to become champions. «Everyone thinks, everyone knows that we will make it,» the Frenchman said.
