Why No Serbian Fans at Germany vs. Serbia Match?

October 2, 2026Carlos Mendoza2 мин

Serbian fans will not be present in the Allianz Arena when Serbia faces Germany in Munich. Here's the reason behind this exclusion.

Serbia's away match against Germany in the Nations League on Thursday, October 1st, in Munich will proceed without support from Serbian fans.

UEFA has disallowed visiting fans for this fixture. SPOX provides the background details in this article.

No Serbian Fans at Germany vs. Serbia Match

A UEFA fan ban is the reason for the absence of Serbian supporters in the Allianz Arena tonight, leaving the away section largely empty.

UEFA issued this penalty in December 2024. Weeks prior, in November 2024, Serbian fans attempted to set fire to an Albanian flag during a Nations League game in Switzerland (1-1). Consequently, UEFA mandated a partial stadium closure for two of Serbia's home matches and a ban on selling away tickets for two of Serbia's away games. The first of these away sanctions occurred in March 2025 during the Nations League playoffs in Austria. Similar to today's match in Munich, Serbia played without fan support in that fixture, which was the second away game affected by the penalty.

In its official penalty notice, UEFA stated that Serbian supporters were punished for "racist and/or discriminatory" actions. In addition to the sanctions impacting two home and two away games, a total fine of 173,000 Euros was imposed.

Interestingly, the away section at Munich's Allianz Arena will not be entirely empty despite the Serbian fan ban. UEFA has reopened sections of the block, allowing the DFB (German Football Association) to sell tickets to home fans.

Further Information on the Absence of Serbian Fans

It remains questionable whether the away section of the Allianz Arena would have been full on Thursday evening even without the penalty. A significant portion of the Serbian population has distanced themselves from their national team for various reasons, including recent poor results.

Serbia failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup and was eliminated in the group stage of the 2024 European Championship held in Germany. Furthermore, Serbia has lost five of their six international matches played in 2026 so far.
