Severe weather at the World Cup is causing disruptions, and FIFA may need to intervene this weekend.

The International Football Federation (FIFA) appears to be planning an earlier start for the World Cup Round of 16 match between co-host Mexico and England in Mexico City. According to information from the news agency AFP, the federation is discussing moving the game, scheduled for Sunday at 6 PM local time, to an earlier slot due to the risk of weather-related disruptions and flooding. A midday kickoff is reportedly being considered.

Recently, a thunderstorm caused a delay in the Round of 16 match between Mexico and Ecuador in the Mexican capital. The game was eventually started an hour later.

The group stage encounter between France and Iraq (3-0) in Philadelphia was also initially delayed after halftime due to a thunderstorm, with the interruption lasting over two hours.

Not Ideal, But It Doesn't Matter: Rashford Sees No Disadvantage for the Three Lions

The Three Lions appeared generally calm on Friday and expressed little concern that a new kickoff time might affect their performance. "Of course, it's not ideal," admitted forward Marcus Rashford, but he immediately added, "but it doesn't matter either."

According to Rashford, Thomas Tuchel's team will still be prepared for everything. "That's the great strength of our team," he further clarified. "Everyone, including the players and the coaching staff, is ready for any challenges that await us."
