Nicolas Jackson Capitalizes on Yann Sommer's Blunder as Aston Villa Secures Champions League Victory
Europa League champions Aston Villa kicked off their new Champions League season with an away victory, aided by miscues from former Gladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer. The English Premier League club narrowly defeated Club Brugge 3-2 (3-1) without the injured national player Leon Goretzka. New signing Sommer made several errors in the Brugge rain before halftime. For AEK, who were Borussia Dortmund's last league phase opponent on January 27th, this marked their first Champions League match in nearly eight years.
