De Ligt: I’m very happy at Juve

Juventus defender Matthjis De Ligt spoke to ESPN Netherlands microphones.

“It was a difficult season both physically and mentally, season with ups and downs.”

“I was out for three months with a shoulder injury, then I came back and got Covid. If I had said three weeks ago: ‘We will win the Cup and get a Champions League spot’, it would have been nice.”

Moving to Barcelona?

“I’m very happy at Juve. I feel like a fish in the water. Even if our performances were lower, I feel good on the pitch and that I’m appreciated.”

Would Juve let me go?

“There are so many clubs that have money problems, but you should ask the club.”

Could Barcelona be the ideal next step?

“I do not know. It doesn’t make sense now. It is not important to me.”

Pirlo?

“I was happy with him, he trusted me and tried help me to improve. But the club decides, last year the coach was sacked despite winning the league.”

Allegri?

“He’s done a good job in the past. I don’t know him personally, but I think he knows my name well, but not in a good way!”

Covid-19 vaccine?

“I didn’t get a vaccination, it’s not mandatory.”

“I think you should take care of your body, the risk of infection is always there. I try to get in touch with as few people as possible outside the Dutch national team.”
