De Ligt: Honoured that I’ll be the Juve captain

Juventus youngster Matthjis De Ligt spoke to Sky Sports microphones, here’s what he had to say:

On this season

“We are disappointed, we need to do more to win because at this stage of the season it is important.”

“Before we were thinking about the Scudetto, now we want to finish second. This team is strong, we have to play to win the Scudetto but now that we can’t, we have to finish second.”

Individual qualities

“I think I have scoring goals among my qualities and I’m not happy to have only scored one goal up to this point of the season, I want to improve in this.”

“But we need general growth in all of us: from those who kick the corners to those who block and those who hit the headers.”

“In this period full of important matches, I want to score more to help the team win.”

Future Juve captain?

“For me it is an honor to play for Juve and to think that one day I will be the captain of this team.”

“But this is not important now, as there are four captains in the squad: experienced players who have been playing here for years.”

“The important thing for me is to play well, help the team and then the coach will decide who will be the captain, but this is not my goal for the moment.”
