Balde to Juventus: A Difficult Pursuit
Alejandro Balde remains a key name for the January transfer window, but Juventus appears to be losing ground in the race for the Barcelona winger. While Balde had been linked with Juventus as a potential major reinforcement for Luciano Spalletti's left flank, recent Spanish reports suggest other clubs are leading the chase.
Liverpool, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly watching Balde closely. AC Milan is also mentioned among interested teams.
This level of competition makes the deal particularly complicated for Juventus.
Liverpool Reignites Interest
Liverpool previously tracked Balde during the summer transfer window and is again evaluating the situation for January. The primary reason for this renewed interest is Balde's limited playing time at Barcelona. Balde seeks more consistent game time, and the coming weeks will be crucial in determining if his situation at Barcelona changes. If not, a transfer could become a realistic option.
Chelsea Also Monitoring Balde
Chelsea is among the clubs showing interest. The London club continues to scout young players with significant international experience. Despite being only 22, Balde already boasts an impressive track record. Currently, no formal offers have been made.
Juventus Further Behind?
This is where Juventus faces its challenges. Balde possesses almost all the qualities Spalletti desires: he's left-footed, fast, capable of covering the entire flank, accustomed to playing for a ball-controlling team, and at 22, still has substantial room for growth. The issue isn't technical. A €40 million expenditure in January would be difficult.
Juventus Has Other Priorities
Manuel Locatelli's injury has increased the need for midfield reinforcements, and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is gaining traction on Juventus's list. Simultaneously, Spalletti also requires a left-sided winger. Investing approximately €40 million solely in Balde would inevitably limit the club's ability to strengthen other areas. Consequently, the Spanish player's name is more likely to remain a compelling prospect than a genuinely attainable target.
