Julian Draxler Praises Michael Olise as His Favorite Bundesliga Player

Ahead of the FC Bayern Munich vs. Paris Saint-Germain clash, Julian Draxler has spoken highly of a star attacker from the German record champions. When asked if PSG was individually stronger than Bayern, Draxler told ran, «That’s hard to say. I believe some of the best players in the world are on the field in this game. On both sides.»

The former Schalke player elaborated, «Of course, there’s Dembélé, the reigning World Footballer, and on the other side, Kane, arguably the best number nine in the world, and my favorite Bundesliga player: Michael Olise. You could name many more, but the level on both sides is incredibly high.»

Amiri Also Impressed by Michael Olise

Draxler isn’t the first active professional to express such positive sentiments about the Frenchman recently. After Bayern’s dramatic 4-3 comeback victory against 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga, Nadiem Amiri told DAZN, «The quality that comes in cannot be defended. But I believe it’s the best example of why Bayern is currently the best team in the world. Michael Olise is, for me, currently the best player in the world!»

Olise Reportedly Courted by Numerous Clubs

Furthermore, Bayern Munich’s supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has shut down any possibility of an early departure for Olise. Speaking to t-online.de, Rummenigge praised Olise, whom Bayern signed from Crystal Palace in 2024 and who has since delivered outstanding performances. «He is a wonderful player. I also like that he is so reserved and almost media-shy. That is an exception in today’s world.»

Rummenigge continued, «He’s a good guy, and on the pitch, he’s naturally outstanding, the way he celebrates football and almost conjures magic. That’s why it doesn’t surprise me that he is so incredibly popular and hyped among our fans.»

It’s not just Bayern fans who admire him; other top European clubs are reportedly keen on the 24-year-old. In recent weeks and months, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Liverpool have all been linked with Olise. As reported by Sport Bild at the end of March, Liverpool was even prepared to offer €200 million for Olise.

Rummenigge Makes It Clear: Olise Will Not Be Sold

It appears those clubs can forget about it. Rummenigge clarified, «In 2009, we received an incredible offer from Chelsea for Franck Ribéry. It would have been a new world transfer record at the time. I then went to our then-financial director Karl Hopfner and Uli Hoeneß. We discussed what to do with that offer for two hours.»

Ultimately, Bayern stood firm and refused. «On that day, we made a fundamental decision: that in the future, we would no longer sell any player whose absence we would feel sportingly,» Rummenigge explained, adding, «And this unwritten law holds true to this day. For a player like Olise, there is no price tag that would make us flinch.»

Olise, who moved to Munich from Crystal Palace in 2024 for a transfer fee of €53 million, has developed into one of the best players in the world at Bayern. Consequently, a potential loss of the French international would hit FCB hard.
