Celebrated New Signing Reportedly Wants to Leave Turkish Top Club After Just One Year

After a long tenure at Manchester City, Ederson moved to Turkey last summer. It appears the Brazilian is already looking to depart.

Will star goalkeeper Ederson leave Fenerbahçe after just one season? According to Turkish transfer expert Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, this is highly probable.

It is reported that Ederson himself wishes to leave the Istanbul club. Sabuncuoglu wrote that interested parties for the Brazilian are emerging from Saudi Arabia, including Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s club.

Fenerbahçe officials are reportedly not opposed to a transfer. Ederson transferred to the Bosphorus last summer from Manchester City for a fee of eleven million euros. The 32-year-old has a contract with Fener until the summer of 2028, which is said to include a release clause of 25 million euros.

Ederson Won Title After Title Under Pep Guardiola

Ederson once came to Europe from FC Sao Paulo as a youth. Benfica discovered the highly talented goalkeeper. After several spells in Portugal, Ederson moved to Manchester in 2017 for 40 million euros, where, as Pep Guardiola’s stated desired player, he shaped the most successful period of the Cityzens. Ederson won six league titles with Man City. Following the treble year in 2023, he was honored as the World’s Best Goalkeeper.

With Fenerbahçe, Ederson chased record champions Galatasaray throughout the season. In the end, it wasn’t quite enough. Since Saturday, Gala has once again been confirmed as champions, and Fener has secured second place.
