BVB Continues Without Attacking Star Adeyemi Against Freiburg

Borussia Dortmund will again be without their offensive star Karim Adeyemi for their penultimate home game of the season against SC Freiburg on Sunday (5:30 PM). The attacker is «still not training with the team, it will still take some time, the problems are not yet resolved,» said coach Niko Kovac on Friday. Adeyemi had already missed last weekend’s match against TSG Hoffenheim due to muscular problems.

The winger could return «for Freiburg, perhaps also for Gladbach,» Kovac emphasized, looking ahead to the upcoming away game on May 3rd against Borussia. Felix Nmecha will be absent against Freiburg, but the coach is «quite confident» that the important midfielder will be able to play again this season. Striker Serhou Guirassy, who had a «slight concussion,» is well and has resumed training.

Kovac Demands Maximum Effort: «We Want to Secure Wins»

Dortmund recently lost to Bayer Leverkusen (0-1) and in Hoffenheim (1-2). Kovac is now calling for a strong finish to the season. «We want to secure wins, and for that, we have to deliver more than in the last two games,» he said: «The last impression will remain, I can understand that.»

Fundamentally, BVB is having a «really good Bundesliga season,» but with the World Cup on the horizon, no one wants to get injured. However, Kovac does not want to let this be an excuse. «It’s about us first and foremost,» said Kovac: «If we go to our limit, we can be strong. If we think we can do it with 90, 95 percent, it will be difficult.»
