Bayern Munich’s Bischof Injured Ahead of Real Madrid Showdown

Bayern Munich will be without midfielder Tom Bischof for their crucial Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid. The German giants announced the unfortunate news shortly after revealing their starting lineup.

Head coach Vincent Kompany has opted for the same starting eleven that secured a historic victory at the Santiago Bernabeu last week, a match where Bayern triumphed over Real Madrid for the first time since 2001, with goals from Luis Diaz and Harry Kane.

Manuel Neuer will start in goal, protected by a back four consisting of Josip Stanisic, Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, and Konrad Laimer. The defensive midfield will be anchored by Joshua Kimmich and Aleks Pavlovic. The attacking trio will feature Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, and Luis Diaz, with Harry Kane leading the line.

Bischof Out with Muscle Tear Against Real Madrid

Bischof, who was substituted on for goalscorer Diaz in injury time of the first leg, will have to watch the return fixture at the Allianz Arena from the sidelines due to injury. Bayern confirmed that the 20-year-old suffered a «minor muscle fiber tear in his left calf.»

The duration of Bischof’s layoff remains uncertain. The club has only stated that the German U21 international will be «out for the time being.»
