Teen Sensation Yan Diomande Chooses to Stay at RB Leipzig, Rejecting €75 Million Interest

The highly sought-after Yan Diomande has declared that he will continue to play for his current club, RB Leipzig, next season.

In a brief response to kicker regarding his future, the Ivorian stated simply, «Yes.» When asked about interest from other clubs, he commented, «At the moment, I’m not concerned with that. I am in Leipzig and I enjoy playing here.» Diomande did not deny that qualifying for the Champions League played a significant role in his decision, saying, «In the end, statistics always count. It was a fantastic year for me.»

Diomande was one of the breakout stars of the recently concluded Bundesliga season. Leipzig acquired the 19-year-old from Leganes in Spain for a reported €20 million. The winger immediately impressed with his speed and exceptional one-on-one skills, finishing the season with 23 scorer points in 36 competitive matches for Leipzig. «Spending €20 million on a player nobody knew was quite a risk,» Diomande acknowledged.

Thanks to his strong performances, Europe’s elite clubs have reportedly taken notice of Diomande. «I’m a starter. I had a complicated start, but then I got my chance, I took it, and I’ve become an important player for the team,» Diomande reflected on his debut season in Leipzig.

Reportedly, clubs such as Liverpool have been tracking him as they seek a successor for Mohamed Salah on the right wing. Furthermore, Bayern Munich has also been rumored to be very interested, although the Munich club is reportedly prioritizing strengthening their offense with Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.

Diomande, whose market value has reportedly soared to €75 million, is under contract with Leipzig until 2030. Last week, he was nominated by national coach Emerson Fae for the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. There, he will face Germany in the group stage on June 20th at 10 PM in Toronto, among other matches.
