Basketball sensation Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been crowned the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year.
The exceptional talent of the championship-winning Oklahoma City Thunder is the fifth active player and the fourteenth professional overall to receive the trophy at least twice in a row. ‘SGA’ emerged victorious over Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets for the Michael Jordan Trophy.
«Who he is, has never changed,» stated OKC coach Mark Daigneault. «I think he’s refined the nuances of his game, his leadership, and his perspective – just like anyone else who is growing up.»
Alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks), Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), and LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Jokic is among the active players who have achieved this award consecutively. The nine former stars in this esteemed group include Steve Nash, Tim Duncan, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Moses Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill Russell.

Gilgeous-Alexander previously won the award last year, ahead of Jokic and Antetokounmpo. Additionally, the Canadian was named Finals MVP. With OKC, the superstar has led his team to eight wins in eight games and into the Western Conference Finals against San Antonio and Wembanyama.
