Under coach Hansi Flick, FC Barcelona has made an impressive start to the Champions League.

The title contender left no chance for Feyenoord Rotterdam on the first matchday of the league phase, securing a resounding 5-1 (2-0) victory. Raphinha (3rd, 57th minute), new signing Karim Adeyemi (22nd minute), superstar Lamine Yamal (77th minute), and Gabriel Jesus (85th minute) ensured excellent spirits among the Barça fans at Camp Nou, despite the at times stormy rain. Sem Steijn (82nd minute) scored a consolation goal for the visitors.

After Raphinha capitalized on Barcelona's first chance to take the lead, Adeyemi followed up with a spectacular goal. The national player measured his shot from a distance and curled the ball beautifully into the far corner with his weaker right foot. German goalkeeper Tjark Ernst stretched in vain in the Feyenoord goal. For Adeyemi, this was his second competitive goal for the Catalan club since his summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

Yamal Just One Goal Away from Champions League Record

Barça controlled the proceedings at all times. The outstanding Raphinha sealed the deal for the La Liga leaders after halftime with his second goal. Yamal then added a direct free-kick.

The world-class talent is now just one goal away from equaling the record for most Champions League goals at the age of 20 or younger, currently held by Kylian Mbappé (13). Jesus had the final say, scoring just two minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Who Will Barça Play Next in the Champions League?

Barça is hoping for their first Champions League triumph since 2015 this season. In their second matchday of the elite competition, the Catalans will face Galatasaray Istanbul away on October 13th.
