The 46-year-old has already officiated three matches in this tournament, including the group stage games Brazil vs. Morocco and Jordan vs. Algeria, as well as the Round of 16 match between Mexico and Ecuador. During these games, he issued a total of seven yellow cards and sent one player off.

The official will be supported by his compatriots Tomaz Klancnik and Andraz Kovacic, who will serve as assistant referees on the sidelines. Adham Majmhadeh from Jordan will act as the fourth official, and Mohammad Alkalaf, also from Jordan, will be the fifth official.
