Robin Gosens Becomes Symbol of Fiorentina's Incredible Comeback
Just weeks ago, Fiorentina seemed destined for relegation. However, Florence has orchestrated an astonishing comeback, with Robin Gosens emerging as a prominent figure in this remarkable turnaround.
Thanks to Robin Gosens, AC Fiorentina has moved significantly closer to securing their place in the league. The 24-time international player scored the decisive goal in the Viola's 1-0 home victory against Lazio Rome.
With an unbeaten streak of five consecutive matches, the once-written-off Tuscan club has climbed to 15th place in the standings, now boasting an eight-point cushion above the relegation zone. Fiorentina had failed to win any of their first 15 league games, languishing at the bottom of the table with just six points in mid-December and trailing by eight points from safety.
Gosens found the back of the net in the 28th minute with a beautifully placed header. For the left-back, who was substituted in the 80th minute to thunderous applause, this was his third goal of the season and his first since early January.
Gosens is among the key players embodying Fiorentina's resurgence. However, the 31-year-old has not been called up by national coach Julian Nagelsmann recently, and his chances of participating in the World Cup appear slim.
