The position of yet another Bundesliga coach appears to be precarious. Borussia Mönchengladbach's coach, Eugen Polanski, is reportedly battling for his job.

Reports suggest that the 40-year-old's continued employment is not guaranteed, even if the club manages to avoid relegation this season.

Polanski has faced increasing criticism from fans on social media for some time, and it seems that even the management at Gladbach is no longer entirely convinced by his leadership.

Since taking over, Polanski's average points per game stands at a mere 1.16. He initially stepped in as interim coach on matchday four, replacing Gerardo Seoane, before being officially promoted to head coach in November. His current contract runs until 2028.

The primary accusation against Polanski is a perceived lack of tactical development within the team. Despite needing a victory to secure much-needed calm in their fight against relegation, the former Bundesliga player opted for a five-man defense with two defensive midfielders. Adding to the controversy, Polanski notably benched his top scorer, Haris Tabakovic, who has 11 goals to his name. Tabakovic only entered the match in the 70th minute when the score was 1-2, despite returning from the international break with significant momentum. He had sensationally helped Bosnia-Herzegovina advance in the World Cup qualifiers playoffs against Italy, coming on in the 71st minute and scoring in the 79th to force extra time. It is unlikely that he lacked the necessary fitness for a starting role.

Another decision that caused bewilderment was the complete absence of Laurin Ullrich from the pitch, who remained on the bench for the entire 90 minutes. Ullrich had just provided two assists in Germany's U21 national team's 3-0 victory against Northern Ireland in the European Championship qualifiers. Instead, the consistently disappointing Joe Scally was given the nod, only to be substituted later, ironically, for Tabakovic.
