RB Leipzig's Cheeky Jab at Fabrizio Romano Over Yan Diomande's Real Madrid Transfer

The transfer of Yan Diomande to Real Madrid is now officially complete. In conjunction with this move, RB Leipzig couldn't resist another subtle jab at transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Bundesliga club captioned their official social media announcement of Diomande's switch with 'HERE WE ACTUALLY GO'. This was a clear dig at Romano, who is known for always concluding his transfer updates with 'HERE WE GO'.

The Italian transfer journalist, who has faced recent criticism, had reported the Diomande transfer to Madrid as supposedly finalized several days prior. RB Leipzig's managing director, Marcel Schäfer, had already responded to Romano at the time: "What is clear is that one or another so-called transfer expert had already reported ten to seven days ago that something was 'done' or 'Here we go'. That's simply not how it is. It involves discussions with various parties," Schäfer stated during RB's training camp in Austria.

Now, everything is indeed in order between Real, Leipzig, and Diomande. Both clubs confirmed the completion of the transfer on Thursday afternoon, with the Madrid club reportedly paying a base fee of 125 million euros. This sum could potentially rise to 140 million euros with bonus payments.

Yan Diomande Has Signed a Seven-Year Contract with Real Madrid

After his outstanding debut season in the Bundesliga, Yan Diomande, who had only joined Leipzig from CD Leganes last summer, attracted interest from several top European clubs. Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City had also reportedly shown interest in the 19-year-old attacking player, with some offering around 100 million euros. However, RB held firm on their significantly higher demands, which Real has now met.

"The move to Real Madrid is the fulfillment of a childhood dream for me," stated an excited Diomande, who has signed a seven-year contract with Real until 2033.
