Potential Top Transfer Already on the Move? Premier League Club Eyes Bundesliga Star
Malik Tillman signed a long-term contract with Bayer Leverkusen last summer. Could he be on the move after just one year?
Malik Tillman has reportedly attracted the interest of a Premier League club. FC Fulham is said to have the American from Bayer Leverkusen high on their wish list, according to the Daily Mail.
The team of former Arsenal and Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno has apparently identified Tillman as a suitable alternative for Harry Wilson. Wilson's contract with the Cottagers expires this summer, and the 29-year-old Welshman is being linked with three of Fulham's league rivals. Rumors suggest Everton FC, Aston Villa, and Oliver Glasner's Crystal Palace are interested in Wilson.
Fulham Reportedly Aims for Agreement Before the World Cup
The newspaper speculates that, assuming Leverkusen's interest, Fulham would be keen on reaching an agreement before the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, as the Londoners would want to preempt any potential increase in Tillman's market value due to the tournament.
Tillman, who was born in Nuremberg, was developed at FC Bayern Munich and loaned out to Glasgow Rangers and PSV Eindhoven before making a permanent move to the Netherlands.
Malik Tillman: Mixed Results for 35 Million
Leverkusen acquired the attacking midfielder, who can also play as a withdrawn forward or on the left wing, for a transfer fee of 35 million euros from PSV last summer. Tillman signed a contract with the club until 2030.
The 23-year-old's first season in the Bundesliga can be described as mixed. In 36 appearances across all competitions, he scored eight goals and provided one assist. Tillman was substituted on and off 13 times each.
