Controversial Free-kick Led to Sweden's 2-1 Lead
The first contentious situation occurred just before halftime. Gustaf Lagerbielke scored Sweden's 2-1 with a header. While the goal itself was not disputed, the preceding free-kick caused outrage. Former Polish referee Michal Listkiewicz argued that the Swedish player merely feigned a foul to provoke it. He criticized the referee for whistling a "trifle" in this instance, having previously ignored more obvious situations.
Poland Demanded Penalty, Sweden Secured the Win
After the break, Poland vehemently appealed for a penalty when Sweden's Victor Lindelöf made contact with Jakub Kaminski's leg in the box. Listkiewicz emphasized that there was a clear kick and contact, and Poland should have been awarded a penalty. He criticized both the main referee and the VAR for their decision.
