Three days after LeBron James himself, the Philadelphia 76ers have also confirmed the spectacular signing of the basketball superstar, rolling out the red carpet for the 41-year-old.

James is "one of the greatest players in NBA history and one of the best athletes of all time," said team owner Josh Harris on Monday. The achievements of the league's all-time leading scorer are "legendary."

On Friday, James announced via X that he would continue his career in Philadelphia after eight years with the Los Angeles Lakers. "There are no words to describe the impact he will have on our organization," said 76ers president Mike Gansey.

Gansey, who played against LeBron in Ohio during their high school days, stated, "I have had the pleasure of knowing LeBron since high school, and I have witnessed the enormous impact he has had at every stage of his career."

LeBron James to Wear Number 23 Again

James has won the NBA title four times in his career: in 2012 and 2013 with the Miami Heat, in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and most recently in 2020 with the Lakers.

Philadelphia also announced that James will continue to wear the number 23 jersey, as he did most recently with the Lakers. The two-time Olympic champion had previously worn number 23 at the beginning of his professional career with the Cavaliers from 2003 to 2010, and later also wore number 6.
