Pep Guardiola Hints at Future Return to Former Club

Pep Guardiola is currently not coaching. He has now revealed his future plans, not ruling out a return to one of his former clubs.

Pep Guardiola spent his last ten years as a coach on the sidelines at Manchester City before ending his contract with the Premier League club this summer. Now, the Spaniard has spoken quite openly about his future plans, revealing that he wants to take things a little slower.

“I told myself: Pep, take a little break and slow down a bit with the life goals that are ahead of you. That is the goal,” he explained in an interview with OKX. “One of the reasons I stopped was to take a little time for myself. My body, my back have suffered a lot in recent years, and I'm starting to do a little exercise again.”

He wants to spend more time with his family, “I want to try to see my children much more often, my father is 95 and still here, my sisters, my brother. Many things that were not possible due to the crazy football schedule with a game every three days for sixteen, seventeen years.”

That's why he recently moved back to his Catalan homeland, where he also stood on the sidelines before his three-year stint as Bayern coach. “I'm still settling in. It was only a short time, more or less a month. I brought all my belongings from Manchester to Barcelona and am still setting up the house,” he revealed.

Pep Confident: 'I Will Return to the Etihad Stadium!'

According to Guardiola, they will “see” how things develop in the long term: “If I miss it and someone wants me, I will come back. Otherwise, I will continue. I am no longer young. I am no longer 35, 37, or 40, but almost 56, so the perspective changes a little.”

He made no secret of his connection to former club Man City, saying: “I will be in the background, yes, definitely. If they need me, I will be there. Manchester City is something special in my life.”

One day he will “of course return to the Etihad Stadium. But for now, I want to be in the background. If they need me, the new coach, of course, we will talk – that's not a problem. But they have to go their own way.”
