NBA Playoffs: Anthony Edwards' Status Uncertain for Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets
The Minnesota Timberwolves are facing potential uncertainty as their superstar, Anthony Edwards, may miss Game 1 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets. The franchise announced that his availability is questionable due to load management following a knee injury.
This same knee injury caused the star guard to miss significant portions of the regular season's final stretch. Edwards has only played in four games since March 15th, with his most recent appearance being 27 minutes against the Houston Rockets in the second-to-last game of the season.
Consequently, 'Ant-Man' will only have 61 appearances in the 2025/26 season, the fewest in his career. This also means he falls short of the 65-game requirement for certain end-of-season awards.
Wolves Face Nuggets for the Third Time in Four Years
Despite injury concerns, this has been an individually successful season for the four-time All-Star. Edwards has set career highs in several categories, including points per game (28.8), blocks (0.8), and field goal and three-point percentages (48.9% and 39.9%, respectively).
The Timberwolves finished the regular season with a 49-33 record, securing the sixth seed in the West. They are set to face the Denver Nuggets, led by MVP candidate Nikola Jokic, who are the third seed. This marks the third playoff encounter between these two teams in four years. The Nuggets won their 2023 series 4-1, while the Timberwolves took the 2024 matchup 4-3.
This year's series is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 9:30 PM.
