National player Nadiem Amiri has made his decision, turning down numerous offers to play for FSV Mainz 05 in the upcoming season.

"A lot has been written about me in recent weeks, and especially in the last few days, many rumors, and I really did have many offers," Amiri explained at a fan meeting on the sidelines of Mainz's training camp in Tyrol on Saturday evening. "But today, after discussing with my family, I've decided to definitely stay here."

No further words were needed; a cheer erupted from the many fans, leading to standing ovations and chants of "Mainzer."

Amiri's commitment to FSV comes as quite a surprise, as Sport Bild had recently reported an agreement between the World Cup participant and RB Leipzig.

Amiri joined Mainz from Bayer Leverkusen in January 2024 for one million Euros and has since significantly increased his market value. For the 05ers, he has scored 26 goals and provided 13 assists in 82 appearances. He has also earned 13 caps for Germany (1 goal, 1 assist). His contract in Mainz runs until the summer of 2028.

Before Amiri's joyful announcement, the team under coach Urs Fischer played their fifth test match of the summer. Against Serie A side Udinese Calcio, Mainz managed a draw after being down 1-3, remaining undefeated in their pre-season campaign.
