Luis Figo Believes Michael Olise is a Future Ballon d'Or Candidate and a Perfect Fit for Real Madrid
Former Portuguese football legend Luis Figo has expressed his admiration for FC Bayern Munich's Michael Olise, identifying him as a future world-class player and a potential Ballon d'Or contender.
"I love him as a player," the 53-year-old stated at an event hosted by one of his commercial partners. "If he continues like this, he will always be a candidate for the Ballon d'Or." Figo's comments come ahead of the Champions League quarter-final second leg between his former club, Real Madrid, and Olise's current team, Bayern Munich.
Figo was impressed with Olise's performance in the first leg, which Bayern won 2-1 in Madrid. He described Olise's display as "fantastic" and praised his "incredible qualities," calling him "currently unique as a winger."
When asked if the French international would be a suitable player for Real Madrid, Figo emphatically agreed. "He has the quality to play for any club in the world – whether it's Real Madrid or any other," he said.
Figo Believes Real Madrid Can Still Come Back Against Bayern Munich
Despite the deficit from the first leg, Figo still believes his former club has a chance to turn the tie around in Munich. He acknowledged that overcoming the deficit would be "difficult," but asserted, "if there is one team that has the stature and quality to achieve that, it is Real Madrid." The key to success, he suggested, would be to "resist Bayern's attacking strength" – which would include containing players like Olise.
