Liverpool's Surprising Salah Successor Target: Francisco Conceicao Valued at €65 Million
Mohamed Salah is set to depart from Liverpool this summer, and the club is actively searching for his replacement.
Reports indicate that Liverpool has identified Francisco Conceicao of Juventus as a potential successor for Mohamed Salah. This rumored interest comes as a surprise to many, given the Portuguese winger's relatively modest performance this season with the Bianconeri.
The 23-year-old has registered only three goals and three assists in 23 Serie A appearances. Last summer, Juventus paid FC Porto €31 million to make his transfer permanent after an initial loan spell.
Juventus is currently battling for Champions League qualification, sitting fifth in the league and needing to gain ground. Failure to secure a spot in Europe's elite club competition could lead to several player departures, potentially including Conceicao, who is keen to continue showcasing his talent on the biggest European stage.
Mohamed Salah to Conclude Nine-Year Spell at Liverpool
According to reports, Juventus aims to make a significant profit from a potential sale of the Portuguese player, valuing Conceicao at approximately €65 million. While this figure is substantial, it would still make him considerably more affordable for Liverpool than other rumored targets, such as Michael Olise, who is reportedly on FC Bayern Munich's radar.
Mohamed Salah confirmed in late March that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, concluding a nine-year tenure, despite his contract running until 2027. The identity of his successor remains uncertain, as does Conceicao's willingness to make a move. "I am focused on the final phase of the season and want to help my club as much as possible," he recently stated while on international duty with Portugal.
