Liverpool's €115 Million Bid for Bradley Barcola Likely to Fail

Liverpool's initial concrete efforts to sign attacking player Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain appear to have little chance of success.

According to a report from the French newspaper L'Equipe, Liverpool is currently planning an offer of approximately €115 million for Barcola. However, PSG would likely reject such a massive offer immediately.

For instance, Sky Sports UK reports significant discrepancies between Liverpool's and Paris's valuation of the player. The French club is reportedly only willing to let Barcola go for a base transfer fee of at least €150 million, with potential bonuses to be added on top. The total package for the winger could then even reach around €170 million.

PSG initially intended to keep Barcola. However, reports suggest that the Champions League winner's offer to extend his contract, which expires in 2028, was ultimately rejected by Barcola. The Frenchman's primary motivation stems from his sporting situation. While Barcola often starts under coach Luis Enrique, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are usually preferred on the Parisian flanks in the most crucial matches. Barcola reportedly wishes to be more than just an 'elite substitute' in top games and is therefore very open to a move this summer.

Could Arsenal Re-enter the Race for Bradley Barcola, Challenging Liverpool?

Meanwhile, PSG could secure the best possible price for Barcola, whom they acquired from Olympique Lyon in 2023. However, with two years remaining on his contract, there is no immediate pressure to sell, which explains PSG's ambitious pricing.

For Liverpool, Barcola would be the high-caliber winger they aim to sign this summer following Mohamed Salah's departure. In addition to PSG's exorbitant transfer demands, notable competition could also thwart the Reds' plans. FC Arsenal has also been linked with Barcola in recent months. And after a potential high-profile transfer collapsed following Vinicius Junior's contract extension at Real Madrid, Liverpool's Premier League rival might turn their attention back to Barcola.

The French international has also been linked with Bayern Munich in the recent past. However, it is highly unlikely that the German champions would invest such a large sum for this position, especially since Bayern is already exceptionally well-stocked on the wings with players like Luis Diaz, Michael Olise, Lennart Karl, Serge Gnabry, and new signing Ismael Saibari.
