The transfer of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund to FC Barcelona is considered a done deal, yet an official announcement is still pending. What is the reason for this delay? Additionally, BVB coach Niko Kovac is particularly impressed with a new recruit. Here's the latest news and rumors concerning Borussia Dortmund.

BVB Rumor - Despite Passing Medical: Why Karim Adeyemi is Still Waiting for the Barcelona Announcement

Karim Adeyemi's move from Borussia Dortmund to FC Barcelona is understood to be finalized. Barcelona president Joan Laporta has personally announced the transfer. The winger has reportedly been seen in his new club's environment and has successfully completed his mandatory medical examination. However, the official confirmation is still outstanding. Why?

According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the announcement is expected next week. It is reported that some details in the transfer documents needed to be clarified at the last minute. Adeyemi's agent allegedly made some short-notice changes, though the newspaper did not specify what these changes entailed. Nevertheless, these changes are not expected to impact the transfer itself. The deal is still considered to be confirmed, with the official presentation of the 24-year-old player scheduled for Wednesday.

The transfer of the offensive player to FC Barcelona had been anticipated for several days. Media reports indicate that both clubs agreed on a fixed transfer fee of 22 million Euros. Borussia Dortmund could potentially earn an additional nine million Euros through bonus payments. Furthermore, BVB has secured a 35 percent sell-on clause. While Adeyemi's contract in Dortmund was set to run until 2027, he will now sign a contract with Barcelona until 2031.

Adeyemi will not be meeting his new coach Hansi Flick for the first time. The former German national team coach first called up the offensive player to the German national squad in September 2021. Since then, Adeyemi has played eleven international matches for the DFB, but missed the World Cup in North America last summer.

BVB News - 'Promising Potential': Kovac Enthusiastic About a New Signing

In Borussia Dortmund's 3-1 friendly victory against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen on Saturday, two new signings particularly stood out. While Justin Lerma scored the temporary equalizer in his debut, Takato Yamamoto also impressed with a strong performance, capped by his first goal in a BVB jersey.

Coach Niko Kovac's praise after the match reflected this: "I actually only saw him for the first time on Thursday. I didn't know him before either. He showed some really good things. Not just you, but I also watched him closely and recognized promising potential. We are pleased about that."

The 18-year-old Japanese player, on loan from first-division club Gamba Osaka, is primarily intended for the second team. His convincing performance against Oberhausen was therefore all the more surprising. However, Kovac made it clear that Yamamoto has a chance to feature for the first team despite his current role. "For now, he will certainly play for the second team. But that doesn't mean the door to the first team is closed. On the contrary: it should be open, and we will keep a close eye on him," Kovac revealed.
