Joachim Löw Denies Ghana World Cup Coaching Rumors
After five years without a coaching position, rumors recently surfaced suggesting a spectacular return to the sidelines for Joachim Löw, potentially as the national coach for Ghana at the upcoming FIFA World Cup. However, the former German national team manager has swiftly denied these reports, stating that such a move is unlikely to materialize.
Löw explicitly addressed the media speculation, refuting claims that he was in negotiations for a coaching role with the Ghanaian national team. "No one from Ghana has officially spoken to me," Löw stated to Sky Sport, directly contradicting the emerging narratives.
Previously, a Ghanaian football portal had reported that the national federation had initiated discussions with Löw. These reports claimed that negotiations were progressing positively and that the German World Cup-winning coach had shown "genuine interest" in taking on the position. Ghana's federation had recently parted ways with their coach, Otto Addo, following a 1-2 defeat to Germany.
Löw, who famously led the German team to triumph at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has not worked as a coach since his departure from the German Football Association (DFB) approximately five years ago. Despite his extended break, he has expressed openness to a return, recently remarking, "I don't want to retire if there's another interesting offer with a good perspective." He added, "Of course, I'm always associated with national teams because I was a national coach for so long. As far as my experience is concerned, that would also be the best for me."
Ghana is scheduled to compete in the World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada (June 11 to July 19), where they have been drawn into a group alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.
