"He'd be a perfect fit for BVB!" Serhou Guirassy's Successor Must Be a Bundesliga Shootingstar, Says Kevin Großkreutz
Borussia Dortmund legend Kevin Großkreutz has publicly recommended the transfer of a close friend, stating he would be a perfect fit for BVB.
Borussia Dortmund is anticipating a significant offensive restructuring this summer, especially with striker Serhou Guirassy reportedly looking to leave the club. BVB legend Kevin Großkreutz has put forward a suggestion for a potential successor.
Speaking on the "Viertelstunde Fußball" podcast, Großkreutz enthusiastically endorsed his friend Fisnik Asllani. "It would be really cool. I believe he's a good guy and he knows his roots. He would fit in well at BVB," Großkreutz gushed. Asllani is currently under contract with TSG Hoffenheim until 2029, but Großkreutz believes he "doesn't quite fit the club he's at right now."
Instead, the 37-year-old, who made over 230 appearances for the Black and Yellows, would love to see Asllani in Dortmund. "That would be fantastic. He could be a true Dortmund player," Großkreutz added, revealing he has personally recommended the move to the Kosovan international.
Großkreutz recalled a headline suggesting Asllani might join BVB. "Then I texted him: 'Come on now, finally. Get moving, it doesn't get any better than this!'" The former BVB midfielder explained he "often exchanges messages with him. We met somewhere, and we've kept in touch ever since."
Fisnik Asllani: Barcelona Over Bayern and BVB?
While the extent of other club contacts remains unclear, it is confirmed that the 23-year-old rising star, who has contributed nine goals and eight assists in 28 games for Hoffenheim this season, has already spoken with FC Barcelona. His agent recently confirmed this.
"Barcelona currently has serious interest. There has been contact with the Catalans," stated Ayman Dahmani, Asllani's agent. However, the agent also noted that Asllani would only be allowed to leave Hoffenheim if his release clause is activated. According to reports, this clause is estimated to be between 25 and 29 million euros.
However, BVB likely won't face competition from FC Bayern Munich, with whom Asllani was also previously linked. The German record champions reportedly backed away from a potential acquisition, despite initial talks, as club officials deemed him too slow.
Should a move to Dortmund for Asllani not materialize, BVB reportedly has another offensive player on their radar: Nicolo Tresoldi. The German U21 international is said to be keen on leaving Club Brugge this summer after a strong season and is aiming for a transfer to the Bundesliga.
Fisnik Asllani: Current Season Performance Data
