Former FC Bayern Player Steps Down: Personnel Turmoil in the 3. Liga
German third-division football club Erzgebirge Aue, heavily threatened by relegation, has dismissed head coach Christoph Dabrowski after just eight weeks in charge. Assistant coach Lars Fuchs also departs, while Sporting Director Michael Tarnat resigned. The club announced these changes a day after their 3-5 loss to TSG Hoffenheim II. Under Dabrowski, Aue managed to secure only two points from nine matches.
"I deeply regret leaving Erzgebirge with such a disappointing record of my tenure and wish the 'Kumpelverein' (colleague/mining club) all the best," stated former Bayern Munich professional Tarnat, who had only taken over the position in January.
Beyond the team's poor sporting performance, "differing views on the club's sporting direction" also contributed to the departures, according to the club's statement.
Effective immediately, youth academy director Khvicha Shubitidze and Enrico Kern will take responsibility for the first team. The future squad planning will be handled by Steffen Ziffert, Sporting Executive Jens Haustein, and Shubitidze.
Erzgebirge Aue Faces Relegation, Prepares for Regionalliga
"Christoph Dabrowski, Lars Fuchs, and Michael Tarnat always showed full commitment and tried everything to get back on the path to success. The measures now being implemented are intended to set the course for a turnaround," Haustein commented.
After 31 matchdays, Aue is far behind the non-relegation spots and must already prepare for a potential drop to the Regionalliga.
