FC Bayern München Celebrates Dominant Test Victory Against Rottach-Egern After National Team Players' Return
FC Bayern concluded their brief training camp at Lake Tegernsee with a fitting friendly match victory upon the return of the German national team players.
The German record champions convincingly defeated FC Rottach-Egern from the Kreisklasse Zugspitze 15-0 (6-0) in front of honorary president Uli Hoeneß. For DFB captain Joshua Kimmich and the other German World Cup participants, who had resumed preparations on Monday, this match in the scorching heat was their first appearance since their disappointing World Cup exit. Manuel Neuer did not participate yet.
Filip Pavic (8th minute), Arijon Ibrahimovic (9th/45th+2), Felipe Chávez (10th/13th), and Maycon Cardozo (45th+3) scored in the first half. After the break, Cardozo (50th), Armindo Sieb (51st/59th), Joao Palhinha (56th), Bara Ndiaye (67th), Bastian Assomo (67th), Pavlovic (86th), Kimmich (88th), and Nuraj Skender (90th+3) added to the tally in front of 2,600 fans at the Stadion am Birkenmoos.
Similar to the first test match against third-division side SV Wehen Wiesbaden (1-2), Bayern started with a C-team featuring Tom Bischof, Min-Jae Kim, and Palhinha. Kimmich, Jonathan Tah, new signing Nathaniel Brown in his debut, and Pavlovic were gradually substituted in the second half.
Sporting director Christoph Freund drew a positive conclusion from the four days at Lake Tegernsee. "Various players have returned, so we were able to train in a larger group again for the first time. The intensity was very good; you could tell that everyone was enjoying it," he said.
