FC Bayern Munich is reportedly exploring options to sign a new number two goalkeeper. The club is said to be considering two Bundesliga shot-stoppers for the role behind Jonas Urbig, who is being groomed as Manuel Neuer's successor.
According to the 'Bayern Insider' podcast from Bild, Finn Dahmen of FC Augsburg is a prominent target. With current veteran keepers Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich potentially ending their careers next summer, and both contracts expiring in 2027, Bayern is looking ahead.
Jonas Urbig is expected to take over Neuer's position eventually, and he has already made two appearances this season. The 'Bayern Insider' suggests Dahmen fits the profile the German record champions are seeking for Urbig's understudy.
Dahmen, 28, has been called up to the German national team by new Bundestrainer Jürgen Klopp and is currently part of the DFB squad. He still has many years ahead of him at his peak, boasts 101 Bundesliga appearances for significant experience, and could potentially be available on a free transfer next summer as his Augsburg contract also runs until 2027.
Discussions between Bayern and Dahmen have not yet taken place, according to 'Bayern Insider.' The club has only discussed the Augsburg player internally. For Dahmen, switching from a clear starting role at FCA to a future at Bayern is not out of the question.
In addition to Dahmen, the Bild podcast mentions another Bundesliga goalkeeper as a potential option for Bayern: Marvin Schwäbe of 1. FC Köln. Like Dahmen, the 31-year-old Schwäbe could become available on a free transfer, with his contract in Cologne also ending in the summer of 2027.
