Edmond Tapsoba Eyes Premier League Exit from Double-Winning Bayer Leverkusen
Bayer 04 Leverkusen is gradually seeing key components of its historic 2023/24 double-winning squad depart.
Central defender Edmond Tapsoba is now reportedly among those considering an exit from Leverkusen.
The 27-year-old is said to be eager to leave the Werkself at the conclusion of the current season. Bayer 04 is reportedly open to such a move, provided an interested club pays an appropriate transfer fee.
Tapsoba's desired destination is the Premier League. Last summer, there were already rumors of a potential transfer, but a move ultimately fell through due to Bayer's demand of 50 million Euros.
Leverkusen Reportedly Demands €40 Million for Tapsoba
Leverkusen is now reportedly asking for around 40 million Euros for the central defender, whose contract with the club runs until June 30, 2028. This figure is considered their minimum acceptable price, below which they are unwilling to let the 27-year-old leave.
Tapsoba joined Leverkusen in January 2020 from Vitoria Guimaraes and quickly established himself as an indispensable starter. In the 2023/24 season, when B04 won both the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal, he was a key performer.
This season, Tapsoba has made a total of 36 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
