Dream Debut in Copenhagen: Moukoko Scores Hat-trick in Svensson's Opener
Former Bundesliga coach Bo Svensson celebrated a perfect start at Danish top-flight club FC Copenhagen, largely thanks to a stellar performance from Youssoufa Moukoko.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker netted an impressive hat-trick (in the 6th, 25th, and 51st minutes) during a commanding 7-0 (4-0 at half-time) home victory against Silkeborg IF.
This triumph marks the 16-time Danish champions' first victory in the ongoing relegation round. Svensson's predecessor, Jacob Neestrup, had been dismissed earlier after two consecutive opening defeats.
The 46-year-old Svensson is a familiar face in Copenhagen; he spent his youth at the club and, as a professional player between 1996 and 2006, won three championships among other achievements.
In German professional football, Svensson made his mark primarily at FSV Mainz 05, where he managed the professional team from 2021 to 2023 after previously serving as a youth and assistant coach. Most recently, he had a brief stint at Union Berlin in 2024.
In February, Svensson was also considered a potential successor for Horst Steffen at Werder Bremen but reportedly turned down the offer from the Hanseatic club.
