Atletico Madrid Files Complaint Against FC Barcelona Over Julian Alvarez

Atletico Madrid has officially filed a complaint with FIFA concerning the potential transfer of Argentine striker Julián Álvarez.

According to information obtained by AFP on Thursday, the Spanish top-tier club accuses FC Barcelona, managed by Hansi Flick, of making an improper approach to Álvarez.

Atletico alleges that Barcelona has been attempting to persuade the World Cup runner-up to force his departure from the club. In addition to the FIFA complaint, Spanish media reports suggest that the Champions League semi-finalists have also contacted the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), who have yet to comment on the matter.

Álvarez, who has been with Atletico since 2024, himself expressed a desire to leave Madrid during the World Cup, stating that it would be "best for everyone" to let him go. Atletico had previously rejected a €150 million offer from Real Madrid for the player in June.

Álvarez's current contract with Atletico is valid until the summer of 2030, with a release clause set at a substantial €500 million.
