Alexander Zverev Suffers Seventh Consecutive Loss to Jannik Sinner in Miami Semifinals

Alexander Zverev has once again faced defeat at the ATP Masters in Miami against Jannik Sinner, marking his seventh consecutive loss to the Italian star. This setback prevented the German tennis sensation from reaching the tournament final.

The German player was defeated by the world No. 2 Italian, Jannik Sinner, with scores of 3-6, 6-7 (4-7) in a match lasting 1 hour and 53 minutes. Zverev had previously been eliminated by Sinner in the semifinals of the Indian Wells Masters as well. Sinner is now set to compete in the final against Jiří Lehečka (world No. 21) from the Czech Republic.

Jannik Sinner described the match as "tough" and praised Zverev as an "incredible player." He highlighted his effective serving in crucial moments, stating, "He played incredibly well, but I served very well at the end, especially in the decisive moments. I am very happy, it means a lot to me."

This outcome extends Zverev's wait for another final appearance in Florida; his last final there was eight years ago. Prior to the match, Zverev had referred to the encounter as the "toughest test," adding, "I'm looking forward to it. I feel pretty good, hopefully, it stays that way."

Sinner Dominates with Ronaldo in Attendance

Under the watchful eye of Brazilian football legend Ronaldo, Sinner once again secured victory, further extending his impressive streak of 32 consecutive sets won at ATP 1000 tournaments.

Sinner expressed his delight about reaching the Miami final again, stating, "It means a lot to me to be back here in the final." The Italian is now striving to achieve the prestigious "Sunshine Double" – winning both the Indian Wells and Miami titles in the same year – a feat last accomplished by Roger Federer in 2017. Sinner commented, "I wanted to play as many matches as possible. It couldn't have gone better."

Zverev Rises in Rankings as German Contingent Exits

With Zverev, who is projected to reascend to world No. 3 in the rankings, the last remaining German player has been eliminated from the Miami tournament. Earlier in the competition, Eva Lys, Ella Seidel, and Tatjana Maria in the women's draw, along with Jan-Lennard Struff, Yannick Hanfmann, and Daniel Altmaier in the men's draw, had all been knocked out in the early rounds. Laura Siegemund exited in the second round.
