Serhou Guirassy Reportedly Makes First Decision on Potential BVB Transfer

Serhou Guirassy’s future at BVB remains uncertain, but he has reportedly made a preliminary decision regarding a potential transfer.

According to information from the Bild newspaper, the striker will definitely not be joining a club from Saudi Arabia in the summer. Rumors about a possible move to the desert have surfaced repeatedly in the past.

The report suggests that clubs in the Saudi Pro League are no longer spending money as freely as in previous years. Guirassy, who is reportedly seeking one last major contract, has allegedly been offered to Middle Eastern clubs by his brother and agent, Karamba, on multiple occasions. Furthermore, the transfer window in Saudi Arabia does not open until July 22nd. Both the 30-year-old and Borussia Dortmund, however, wish for clarity before then, speculates the Bild newspaper.

Instead, Guirassy reportedly wants to remain in European top-tier football. Interest has been noted from Fenerbahce Istanbul and Aston Villa. However, neither of these clubs are said to be among the select few who could utilize his release clause this summer, according to consistent reports. This release clause is rumored to be €35 million for some top clubs.

Transfer or Stay? BVB Fights to Keep Guirassy

Regardless, BVB is keen to continue working with Guirassy, who has a contract until 2028. The club’s management has recently communicated this clearly. «We have no intention of letting him go. He has impressively proven his value to Borussia Dortmund in the last two seasons,» stated Managing Director of Sport, Lars Ricken.

To make staying an attractive option for Guirassy, BVB has reportedly even revealed their transfer plans to the goal scorer. Ricken and Sporting Director Ole Book have emphasized their desire to bring in a strong attacking partner for Guirassy to better integrate him into the team’s play.

With 22 goals, Guirassy was indeed Dortmund’s top scorer last season. However, at times, BVB and coach Niko Kovac struggled to effectively involve the striker in the game, which led to a lengthy dry spell. He even briefly lost his starting position.
