Real Madrid Reportedly Targeting Their Next Mega Transfer

According to Italian media outlets, including the Neapolitan local newspaper ‘Il Mattino’, Real Madrid is showing significant interest in acquiring Scott McTominay from SSC Napoli.

It is reported that Real’s new coach, Jose Mourinho, is particularly admired by the Scottish international. The Portuguese manager had the central midfielder under his wing during his time at Manchester United.

However, McTominay only developed into a top player after his departure from England and his move to Southern Italy. At SSC Napoli, the 29-year-old became a star in his first season, winning the Scudetto with the club and being named Player of the Season in Italy. With the recent departure of Dani Ceballos, a spot has also opened up in Real Madrid’s midfield.

For a transfer to happen, Los Blancos would have to dig very deep into their pockets, with a transfer fee of around 80 million euros being discussed. McTominay’s contract in Naples runs until 2029. However, the Scot, along with the Bravehearts, had to pack their bags after the group stage at the World Cup in North America.

This early exit from the World Cup would actually suit Mourinho. In Adebayo Akinfenwa’s ‘Beast Mode On’ podcast, which belongs to Footballco along with SPOX and GOAL, the coach admitted that he wished for his players to have an early exit from the World Cup.

Real Madrid Highly Active in the Transfer Market

Real Madrid itself aims to win trophies again after a second consecutive season without silverware and is acting aggressively in the transfer market accordingly. Hardly any other European top club has been as active this summer as Los Blancos so far.

Initially, they appointed Mourinho as their new coach, succeeding Alvaro Arbeloa. Additionally, the capital club has strengthened its squad with stars like Marc Cucurella (53 million euros from FC Chelsea), Ibrahima Konate, and Bernardo Silva (both on a free transfer).

Furthermore, Enzo Fernandez (FC Chelsea), the Moroccan shooting star Ayyoub Bouaddi (OSC Lille), and Julian Alvarez (Atletico Madrid) are reportedly on their wish list. However, Real’s offer of around 150 million euros for the Argentinian has already failed.
