Preußen Münster, recently relegated from the 2. Bundesliga, will go their separate ways with coach Alois Schwartz at the conclusion of the current season.
The club officially confirmed this on Thursday, with Sunday’s match against SV Elversberg marking Schwartz’s final game in charge. The 59-year-old manager was only appointed in March but was unable to prevent the team’s descent into the third division, and has yet to secure a victory during his tenure.
‘Although I was only the coach here for a short time, the period was enough to endear the club to my heart. It hurts all the more that we unfortunately could not prevent the relegation during our brief time together,’ stated Schwartz. A new coach will be tasked with leading the team’s restart in the 3. Liga.
Münster Aims for a Dignified Farewell from the 2. Bundesliga
According to the club’s statement, Münster intends to bid farewell to the 2. Bundesliga with «a courageous performance and a clear stance, in the spirit of fair competition.» This is in anticipation of their upcoming game against second-placed Elversberg, who are currently competing for promotion to the Bundesliga.
The decision for both parties to part ways was the outcome of a discussion characterized by «mutual appreciation and great respect.»
