Carlo Nesti: "Current times are not suitable for a coaching change at Juventus"

Following Juventus's loss to Sassuolo, journalist Carlo Nesti commented on the media speculation surrounding potential coaching changes.

Speaking on Radio Sportiva, Nesti acknowledged that when Juventus falters against smaller or mid-sized teams like Sassuolo, names of prominent coaches without current affiliations inevitably surface. He noted Antonio Conte's significant history with Juventus as both a player and coach, including three league titles, and his residence in Turin.

However, Nesti firmly stated, "I really don't believe these are the times, and I don't wish it upon Spalletti, perhaps much later on. These are absolutely not the times for a change."

Regarding the current Juventus coach, Nesti expressed confidence that tactical shifts would occur, especially considering player absences. He suggested moving from a back four to a back three and establishing a three-man midfield with Sarr, Locatelli, and eventually Thuram upon his return. Nesti believes a 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 formation would be appropriate, citing how Juventus's wide back four in the Sassuolo match proved vulnerable.

He observed that when the team fails to win, particularly against opponents like Sassuolo, media outlets often bring up names of well-regarded coaches who are currently unattached. Nesti pointed out Conte's distinguished record with Juventus, encompassing his playing career and his three Scudetto wins as manager, noting also that Conte lives in Turin. Despite these factors, Nesti asserted, "I don't believe this is the right moment, and I wouldn't wish it upon Spalletti for much later. It's absolutely not the time for a transition."

Nesti also shared his thoughts on the current Juventus coach, expressing certainty that tactical modifications would be implemented, particularly given current player availability issues. He specifically mentioned the potential switch from a four-man defense to a three-man backline and the formation of a three-player midfield, involving Sarr alongside Locatelli and Thuram once he returns.
