Jürgen Klopp’s Take on FC Bayern’s Pursuit of Nathaniel Brown

Jürgen Klopp has weighed in on FC Bayern’s interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s national team player Nathaniel Brown, advising the club to demand a substantial transfer fee.

Speaking as a World Cup TV pundit for MagentaTV after Brown’s impressive performance in Germany’s 7-1 victory against Curaçao, the former Liverpool manager stated: «It was a pleasure to watch him last season. If Eintracht Frankfurt lets this player go, I would strongly advise them to get good money for him. He is a really good player.»

Brown has secured a starting position as a left-back for the German national team. In the match against Curaçao, he impressed with his first international goal and an assist, highlighting why Bayern are keen on him.

«He is a great lad with tremendous development over the last few years,» Klopp praised, adding, «so it doesn’t surprise me that Bayern have noticed him.»

Nathaniel Brown Reportedly Valued at €55 Million

The German record champions are reportedly close to signing the offensively strong defender. An agreement with Brown, whose contract runs until 2030, has been in place for some time, and according to consistent reports, a deal has also been reached with Eintracht Frankfurt. The transfer fee, including bonuses, is rumored to be €55 million.

To expedite the process, FC Bayern has already made logistical arrangements. Brown is expected to undergo his mandatory medical examination directly at the German national team’s World Cup camp in the USA. It is worth noting that an unnamed Premier League club reportedly attempted to hijack the deal until the last minute. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Brown immediately rejected the interested club’s advances. According to The Athletic, this club was FC Arsenal.

Klopp further commented, «Bayern have an issue at left-back. It’s a position where you’re in trouble if you don’t have a strong option. It simply limits your style of play.»

At Säbener Straße, Brown would serve as an alternative to Alphonso Davies. The Canadian has struggled to regain form since his serious knee injury in the spring of 2025 and has been repeatedly hampered by physical problems.

Matthäus’s Statement in Woltemade Transfer Saga Angers Hoeneß

How will Klopp’s advice on the transfer fee be received by Bayern, and particularly by club patron Uli Hoeneß? Last summer, a similar piece of advice from Lothar Matthäus regarding the then-Stuttgart player Nick Woltemade caused considerable frustration for FCB’s honorary president.

Just weeks ago, Hoeneß expressed his annoyance to Spiegel: «Matthäus’s statement about Woltemade – let me tell you one thing: we would have bought him for 50 million. I am quite sure we could have managed that. But then Matthäus says in the newspaper that he’s definitely worth 60 to 80 [million].»

Due to the sum quoted by Matthäus, the VfB officials were no longer able to «sell him for 55 [million] because they would have come under such pressure, that they were too stupid to execute what Matthäus, as a so-called expert, was broadcasting to the world.» Ultimately, Woltemade’s move to Munich fell through, and he joined Premier League club Newcastle United for €75 million.
