Shocking news for Jonathan Klinsmann, the goalkeeper for Italian second-division club AC Cesena. According to club statements, he has sustained a fracture of the first cervical vertebra.
The son of the 1990 World Cup winner, Jürgen Klinsmann, had to be substituted and taken to the hospital during Saturday’s away match against US Palermo (0-2) after a collision on the field.
This injury effectively ends the season for Cesena’s starting goalkeeper. Klinsmann is scheduled to undergo further examinations and neurosurgical consultations. Jonathan Klinsmann’s manager, Marco De Marchi, expressed his deep concern, stating, «The road to recovery will be long,» as reported by media outlets. Klinsmann, who was born in Munich, has been playing in Italy since 2024.
