Germany’s World Cup Squad: DFB Announces Date for Julian Nagelsmann’s Nomination

National coach Julian Nagelsmann is set to announce Germany’s World Cup squad on May 12th at 1 PM. This specific date was confirmed by the German Football Association (DFB). The exact location for the squad announcement has not yet been disclosed.

It is anticipated that 26 players will be nominated for the World Cup, which will take place in the USA, Mexico, and Canada from June 11th to July 19th.

Germany recently celebrated a thrilling 4-3 victory against Switzerland in their first international match of the year on Friday. Their next fixture is scheduled for Monday evening in Stuttgart against Ghana.

Currently, Aleksandar Pavlovic (Bayern Munich) and Felix Nmecha (Borussia Dortmund) are sidelined due to injury, while Jamal Musiala (also Bayern) was rested as a precaution. All three are considered strong candidates for the World Cup squad, provided they are fit and do not suffer further injuries.

While Nagelsmann could name a larger provisional squad in May, the final 26-player roster must be officially submitted to FIFA, the world football governing body, by early June.

In the World Cup group stage, the German team will kick off their campaign on June 14th in Houston against Curacao. This will be followed by matches against Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire) on June 20th in Toronto and Ecuador on June 25th in East Rutherford.

During the recent test match against Switzerland, Florian Wirtz delivered a standout performance for the German side. The Bayer Leverkusen player scored to put Germany 3-2 ahead in the second half and secured the 4-3 final score in the 85th minute. Earlier in the match, Wirtz also provided assists for the two first-half goals scored by Jonathan Tah and Serge Gnabry (both FC Bayern).
